Cancellation & refund policy

We understand that plans can change. Our cancellation policy is designed to be fair both to our travellers and to the accommodations, guides, and ground partners we book on your behalf — often well in advance of your trip.

Cancellation schedule
Time Before Safari Start
Refund Amount
More than 120 days
75% refunded (25% forfeited)
119 – 90 days
50% refunded (50% forfeited)
89 – 31 days

The earlier you cancel, the more you'll have refunded. Please refer to your booking confirmation for any specific terms applicable to your package.

Circumstances beyond our control

We always aim to be transparent with our clients about what we can and cannot do when it comes to refunds.

In most cases, our cancellation policy above applies clearly. However, there are situations — such as global health events, natural disasters, or other circumstances outside of Gosheni's control — where our ability to issue a refund depends on the policies of the accommodations, parks, and ground partners we've already paid on your behalf.

In some cases, a partner may not recognise a particular event as grounds for a refund, even where we would prefer to offer one. In these situations, we are often limited to rescheduling your safari rather than refunding it.

We strongly recommend that all travellers take out their own comprehensive travel insurance that covers trip cancellation and disruption. This is the best protection against circumstances that fall outside what any tour operator — including us — can guarantee.

Working directly with a licensed operator

Gosheni Safaris is licensed and certified by both TATO (Tanzania Association of Tour Operators) and TALA (Tanzania Association of Local Tour Operators). When you book directly with us, your payment goes straight to the company operating your safari — with no agency markups or middlemen fees.

Gosheni Safaris is a Tanzanian company, and as such is not part of any European national travel guarantee scheme (such as Denmark's Rejsegarantifonden, or similar schemes in other EU countries). This is a structural reality of booking directly with an operator based outside the EU — not a reflection of how established or reliable the company is.

This is why we recommend personal travel insurance as your safety net — alongside the transparency and direct relationship we offer as a long-established, licensed Tanzanian operator.

We are not a European intermediary agency. This direct model removes extra agency layers and keeps communication close to the people responsible for your itinerary.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, provided you're paying a licensed, verified operator. Gosheni Safaris is certified by both TATO and TALA, and has operated directly with international travelers for years. Paying directly also means there's no added agency markup — your payment goes straight to the company running your safari.

Refunds are based on how far in advance you cancel, as outlined in our cancellation policy. The earlier you cancel, the more you'll have refunded. Cancellations more than 60 days out receive a full refund minus the deposit; 30–60 days receives 50%; less than 30 days is non-refundable.

Yes, genuinely. Good travel insurance with trip cancellation cover is often the only way to recover costs in situations outside everyone's control — health events, family emergencies, missed flights, and similar disruptions. We recommend arranging this as soon as you book.

Only ever pay using the details on our official payment portal, and only trust communication from an @goshenisafaris.com email address. If anything feels off, contact us directly before sending any payment. Be cautious of similar-looking domains with extra characters, country extensions, or slight misspellings — these are not us.

Yes. A 30% deposit confirms your booking, with the balance due 30 days before arrival.
